Samonas CD Live in Catalunya

The music is played by the Ferenc ErkeI Chamber Orchestra, Budapest, a young orchestra under the direction of Horst Sohm. The CD contains a piece said to have been composed by the 12-year-old Rossini, showing his talent enabling stringed instruments to sing like the human voice. The Tchaikovsky serenade for strings, Opus 48, combines vitality with sensitivity and dancing passages.

The CD is completed in unmistakable Nordic style with Grieg's suite, “from Holbergs Time”. It was recorded at a live performance in the northern Spanish cathedral, Costello de Ampurias, and in the historic church of San Martin de Ampurias. Special acoustics give the performance a charm of its own.

The conductor, Horst Sohm, inspires his young, responsive musicians in a way which produces truly lively music that speaks directly to the listener. Thereby the recordings develop an effect by which the music is able to reach the deepest levels of human emotions.
