Q. What is the main reason for the Stress Buster to have adjustable speeds ?
A. The main reason is that ALL people can use our machine, not just a certain group. Our very basic model manufactured more than 10 years ago had only one speed. We found out that many people could not use the machine just because of the single-speed limitation. In order to gain the maximum benefits from using the machine, the machine has to oscillate at between 145 to 150 revolutions per minute (RPM). However, when the user puts his feet onto the foot cradle of the machine, his feet exert considerable weight on the moving mechanism thereby slowing down the speed. Depending on how heavy the user's weight is, the oscillating speed (the loaded speed) of the machine can be reduced significantly or it simply cannot move. Therefore, for heavily built individuals, say, of 250 pounds and above, the machine may not move at all or if it moves, it will not attain to the optimal speed of approx. 150 RPM. Conversely, an elderly or thin individual, especially one having backbone or spinal problems, cannot use the one-speed machine, because the speed will be too fast for them. For an adjustable machine like ours, the user can adjust the speed appropriate to their physique. It has to be emphasized that the speed is not the "faster the better," that the speed adjustment is to compensate the loss of power from the motor due to heavy weight being exerted. In the case of elderly individuals, a slower speed may be used in the beginning, and then, gradually moved up to the optimal speed.
Q. Why do we have to stay in the lying position a little while after the machine stops ?
A. The main reason is to get the benefits of the massage. When the machine stops after rocking for 5 minutes or longer, you will usually experience a "rush"... a surge of energy- tingling all over the whole body. This life energy massages every cell and internal organ in your body, a miraculous massage that cannot be done externally. Research has indicated that the greatest benefit from the exercise is realized while lying motionless after the machine stops and only 1/3 of the benefits of exercise while the body is rocking. As to how long one should rest when the machine stops, it should be one minute in every five minutes of rocking.
Q. How often and how long should I use the machine ?
A. Ideally, use the machine once or twice everyday, 15 minutes per session. A beginner should initially use it 5 minutes each time and then gradually increase to the full session of 15 minutes.
Q. What if I use the machine for more than twice a day ?
A. You have to realize that this is a passive exercise. Since you are lying down, carrying no body weight and in a relaxed condition, you do not feel exhausted. However, 15 minutes of rocking movement is equivalent to 45 minutes of jogging. If you overdo it, you will feel muscle fatigue as if you over-exercised.
Q. Why do some people feel dizzy and have a headache after using the machine ?
A. This symptom may occur if the user has one of the following four possible conditions: a) Hypertension, b) Hypotension, c) Anemia and d) Weakness. These users should turn down to a slower speed and cut down the rocking time.
Q. How can the machine detoxify ?
A. Our bodily detoxification system is the Lymphatic system where body toxins are filtered and discharged through the kidney. Unfortunately our Lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart in our blood circulatory system and therefore the lymphatic fluid moves very slowly, especially in the feet region, when we are standing, the flow of the fluid is against the gravity. When we are young, the lymphatic fluid is less viscous and discharges toxins effectively. But when we are 25 years or older, the bodily metabolism slows down and, coupled with chemicals and preservatives we eat and polluted air we breathe, our lymphatic fluid has so many toxins that it becomes less mobile and our body is virtually intoxicated. When we use the machine, the rhythmic movement quickly mobilizes the lymphatic fluid which becomes detoxified when passing through the kidney.
